GAME SUMMARY: Sweat Hogs season comes to an end

FINAL SCORE:
Punishers 5
Sweat Hogs 3

A tough battle, close til the very end, but just short of a big win. The Hogs matched the Punishers goal for goal, but fell just short in the end. An empty netter in the last minute sealed the deal.

The Hogs put up the first goal of the game, as Dom Peluso wired one home for the 1-0 lead. The Punishers battled back and took a 2-1 lead, but Barton tied things up by the break.

In the second half, the Hogs fell behind again, but Pat managed to tie things up at 3 with a nice shot from the point, finding the top corner. The Hogs fought hard, but fell into some penalty trouble, as a late penalty kill resulted in another Punishers goal, and that was all she wrote. A late scramble in front of the Punishers net almost resulted in a goal, but the ball bounced away from the hog forwards. The Punishers scored an empty netter to shut the door.

All in all a great season depsite a 5-15 record. Now that we're accustomed to the gym and a different system, next year should be a better year. Hopefully all you Sweat Hogs ready this spend the summer out jogging, or on the treadmill. Remember, salads are our friend! See you in September!

  1. The Punishers are in the B pool? Do they still have the really big guy (about 6' 5'' or so), and only him and a short guy who was a danger to score? That was them a few years ago, but they were good enough to be near the top of the league usually.

  2. The Punishers finished the regular season 11th out of 18 teams, with a losing record of 8-9-3. They were the #3 seed in the B Pool, and won it, beating us in the Semis 5-3, then beating the Wobblypops 5-4 in OT. Their top scorer in the regular season was a guy named Corey Schryburt. Their other top scorer was a guy named Josh Thornley. Don't know if those were the guys you were thinking of. I don't know them. They were a solid enough team, definitely worthy of the B pool Championship, but we could have taken them! (So close!!) Stupid ball hockey!
